Southern Indiana Friends of AMBUCS is a local chapter of the national organization providing adapted tricycles to children in the southern Indiana area. AMBUCS is a non-profit service organization with over 5500 active members nationwide.
Our mission is to help kids be kids by providing Amtryke therapeutic tricycles to children, thereby promoting mobility and independence for children with disabilities.
Southern Indiana Friends of AMBUCS receives all funding through donations and grants. All of our funding goes toward purchasing adapted tricycles. Our local chapter was created in 2008. On average, we provide approximately 13 adapted tricycles per year.
The process starts with referral by a physical or occupational therapist. Once the child is referred, they are measured and assessed to find the best fit for their needs. The child is then placed on a waiting list until the funds are available to purchase their tricycle.
